Ben Templin
Ben grew up in the farmlands of the Willamette Valley. His passion for sound and music began at a young age, learning the piano at age 8, learning drums, bass and guitar through his high school career. He got his first Roland 8 track recorder in his sophomore year. He immediately began recording his bands second album, along with many other local acts and musicians.
At age 19, Benís high interest in culture and travel, along with his need to further understand his hobby of recording audio, took him to SAE Institute in Amsterdam, Holland where he began his studies of sound engineering. With his rapid networking skills, he began making connections all over Europe. He soon began working live sound at venues around Amsterdam and Leiden. Through SAE he was able to start his location-recording career. Doing location sound for Jam in the Dam music festival, and recording 24 track live performances of Dark Star Orchestra, and Yonder Mountain String Band. Also mixing and mastering the live music, and doing post sound design for the online trailer. He soon was asked to travel To Koh Samui, Thailand to do boom operating and sound mixing for reality television.
In February of 2008, he returned to the United States, to finish his studies in Hollywood, CA. He soon began networking all over LA, working for Sound For All, and Down for Sound productions. Working location sound on everything from student films, shorts, and independent features, doing sound design and audio mixing for short films, and producing original music for many local artists around LA. In February of 09, he began work at Travelscope, where his true passion could excel, his love for travel and an understanding of the world and its complex cultures.
