Emmy Ceremony Tonight!
Posted on June 25, 2010 By Joseph
Tonight, Julie and I are attending the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles at the Bonaventure Hotel, which includes the awards for Outstanding Special Class Series – our category. We will be thinking of all of you. We’re not worried about winning – we have already won. Just doing Travelscope for all these years is a blessing larger than anyone could ever wish to receive. Having all the wonderful experiences that we have had, exploring the world and meeting its people, sharing some of their joys, as well as, their trials and tribulations and, foremost, creating the shows and then with them touching the millions upon millions of viewers we have with the message that we are all more alike than different, is award enough. Thank you all for everything you have or are contributing to Travelscope.
The ceremony is not telecasted, we may not win and we may not have the opportunity to say the following acceptance remarks even if we do, but I wanted to share them with you. So, even that if we don’t get to say them at the ceremony, you will have had the opportunity to read them:
Thank you! Thank you for this recognition!
We are thankful and grateful that each week Travelscope has the opportunity to prove the words of Mark Twain that, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness.”
First and Foremost, I want to thank my producer and wife, Julie Rosendo – without whom none of this would have been possible and we would not be here tonight. We also want to thank Zebediah Smith, our primary shooter, editor and production supervisor; Jon Speyers who shoots and edits everything Zeb doesn’t; David Paul Dorn and Daniel Semsen, composers; Greg Hamlin, color; Jason Grigg, sound mixing; and everyone who makes and has made Travelscope possible—including PBS viewers like you!
Thoreau said, “If one advances confidently in the direction of their dreams and endeavors to live the life they have imagined; they will have a success undreamt-of in common hours.”
Travelscope and our life are proof that he was right!
Until Next Time—Thank you—and Happy Traveling!
We are truly thankful and grateful for all your help and support.
All the best,
Joseph and Julie
