Travelscope’s Zebediah Smith lands Emmy Nomination!
Posted on May 12, 2011 By Julie
We’re honored and thrilled with Zeb Smith’s nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Single Camera Photography from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences… an Emmy nomination!Zeb has trekked with us to mountain gorillas in Rwanda, braved the ice and cold circumnavigating South America’s Cape Horn, climbed Guatemala’s Mayan ruins of Tikal and Yaxha and scaled the Swiss Alps. While Ginger Rogers may have danced backwards in heels, Zeb has shot amazing, award-winning Travelscope episodes while carrying gear on his back and a camera on his shoulder.
Winners will be announced June 17 in Los Angeles. Regardless of the outcome, this recognition is well deserved! Congratulations, Zeb and thank you for garnering Travelscope another Emmy nomination!

Well deserved recognition! One of the truly unique things about Travelscope is that your show captures both the magnificence of the location as well as the magic. Through the very talented “lens of Zeb”, we get to not only see the travel experience but we get to feel it. Congratulations!!!!!
Zeb’s calm and confident demeanor does much to ensure success in often challenging settings while still keeping track of the bigger picture of what elements are needed to help tell unique stories in a visually compelling way. As a sound guy it’s been a real pleasure working with Zeb on a couple TravelScope locations and seeing where he points his lens to capture the moments.
Three cheers to you Zeb, for capturing the Travelscope wonder and this hard earned recognition! Your style is classic and refined and from one show to the next, you consistently reveal the heart of a story through your images. Well done!
Well deserved and wonderful to see Travelscope recognized for the second year in a row!
Having worked at Zeb’s side in the mountains of Rwanda and on the Straits of Magellan, I can tell you that this nomination is well-deserved.
Congratulations, Zeb!
I just wanted to say how much Travelscope means to the “armchair traveler.” My mother is 82 years old and has always loved going on journeys and seeing the world. As this grows more difficult due to health issues, she has fallen in love with the Travelscope series. Your photographer, Zeb, and your entire crew, are her much-anticipated window to the world!
I love Travelscope and am so proud of my cousin Zeb, even though I’ve never even met him!! Congratulations on your homination Zeb!
Congratulations to you all at Travelscope for the second year in a row. And congratulations “kid”. You’re an inspiration to us all. Your patient, quiet ways underscore a deep heart that brings to light your great love for “all” fellow inhabitants of this planet. I am so proud to call you my son.
Love, Pop’s
